Funds
The research center will need initial funds mounting up to 2000000 US dollars. This will be spent on purchasing laboratory equipment. It is prudent to divide the purchase into three episodes and start with the first part of the list. When the first part is installed, fully functioning, and validated, the second and the third part of instruments can be purchased and installed.

Depending on the activity there should also be a yearly budget to cover maintenance and consumable costs for the first five years. Maintenance is the biggest challenge in many laboratories. It should be noted that maintenance cost within 10 years is almost equivalent to the purchase price. However, educated personnel who can perform most of the maintenance work and use appropriate quality solvents can reduce the maintenance price substantially. The cost for consumables, reagents, and maintenance of such laboratory varies from 30 000 $ to 100 000$ per year and per person and is very dependent on the instrument and the reagents and chemicals used.
The funds required yearly for the laboratory activities will decrease every year and be replaced by services that the laboratory provides. In addition, the laboratory will have equal opportunity to compete and apply for national and international funds allowed by the Eritrean Government. Moreover, activities that mobilize the Eritrean community in diaspora and Eritrea, such as walk-for-health will be conducted yearly. The activities will be used to disseminate new findings of the laboratory through popular science articles, live contact with people, leaflets, and brochures to create awareness. At the same time, the communities will be asked to donate a small amount of money for research. By doing so, in addition to proposals to be validated by expertise, the satisfaction of the people with the research achievements will determine the amount of money donated.
Continues grants for sustainability should be based on the activity and productivity of the center, which should be validated through a yearly report.
